Grace Filled Words

What do you do when you hear boasting and arrogance? There is a lot of it in the political, sports, Hollywood, fashion arenas. Declaring how great you are seems to be the way to win.

But there is also a lot in the business, social, financial worlds that we live in.

And certainly on the battlefield, heroes emerge that take full credit for the wins.

And what do we say about ourselves? Do we believe we are self-made successes? Do we take the credit or do we recognize that all we have and all we are comes from the Lord?

The truth is that talent, opportunity, the desire to succeed all come from the Lord. Our success is not ours. Our bravery is not ours to own. We cannot take credit for the open doors because it all comes back to the Lord. When we lay the wins at our own feet, we are standing on cracked pavement.

“Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!” Psalm 52:1-4

The Scripture is clear that we are all sinners. It tells us that we all live with hearts that are deceitful and desperately wicked. We live in the dark side until we face the truth that we are all in need of the Savior. When we invite Him to come into our lives and trust Him to make a difference, we see the true success that only He can bring.

Lord, I am asking You to replace my evil tongue with the grace filled words that You have spoken. Any success, any wins belong to You. Thank You.
