Good News

Psalm 27:7-12 “Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.”

This portion of Psalm 27 is a prayer that David cries out to God. It can be our prayer too.

We want God to hear us when we pray. Here is the good news, He does. A word, a barely discernable whisper from our lips, or the silent cry of our hearts is heard over and above the crashing of the loudest thunder, the roar of the ocean, the chaotic noise of the world. He hears.

David seeks the mercy of God. Here’s the good news. His mercies are new every morning. His mercy and grace go farther than our sin.

The desire of David’s heart is to see the face of God. Here’s some great good news. His face is revealed every day as we open His Word.

David cries out for God not to reject or forsake him. More good news, Jesus promises never to leave us or forsake us.

David’s prayer was, teach me, lead me, do not turn me over to my enemies. More and more and more good news, in Christ it is done, done, and DONE! He came to teach us His ways, to lead us in the straight paths, and to rescue us out of the hands of THE enemy, satan.

Today we can pray right along with David and know that in Christ it is accomplished.

Pray Psalm 27:7-12: Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
