God’s Word is such a key to making my life work. It begins with becoming a follower of Jesus but living that out takes reading and studying His Word. Every page of Scripture can give me understanding and confidence to live for Him. But I have to make the decision to follow through on that. His Words can be sweet and they can be challenging. I need both.
“I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.” Psalm 119:101-104
We can see from these verses that spending time in the Word gives us an understanding of right and wrong and how to live that out.
Let’s face it, we live at a time when messages are pretty mixed up as to what is right. We are told all kinds of lies that come wrapped up in good sounding messages of compassion and tolerance when what we are really being asked is to embrace sin. We need the Word and its clear path to following after the Lord. Because what was sin when Scripture was written is still sin today. But when we study the Word, we know the right way to go.
I thank You, Lord, that You have given me a clear guidebook to know right from wrong. As I read and study, please open my mind, so I can understand and open my heart so I will obey.
