“The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—length of days, for ever and ever. Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.”
Can you hear it? There is a song of great joy in these verses. King David recognized that every good thing in his life came from God.
Can we see it? Do we have eyes to see the blessings too? God is strong and He is the one in whom every victory rests. We may not personally do battle on a battle field like King David, but the battles in our lives still rage. And who gives the victories? God and God alone.
We can at every moment of every day rejoice in God’s presence. He is a breath away. If I feel alone, He is there. If I am overwhelmed, He wants to carry my burdens. If there are health concerns or issues, He is the author and sustainer of my life.
Today I choose to lift up my voice, along with King David, and extol the praises of Almighty God. And when I do I find myself bursting with joy in His presence and bubbling over with song.
No matter what the day holds, I have Immanuel, God with me.
God, You are with me. I praise You for who You are and what You have done. I stand amazed.
