Proverbs gives us lots to think about. There is much wisdom in each phrase and verse. Today we ponder that each day is filled with both joys and concerns. We know; we live it out. But then it goes on to give us very practical advice on how we should negotiate those days.
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips. Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both. Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” Proverbs 27:1-6
Friends are those people who tell us the truth. Sometimes it feels like what they say wounds us, but truth is truth and it is so much better to live in truth than to believe lies.
The land of lies is satan’s territory.
So, if someone who loves us tells us something, we need to listen. We need to be open to hearing from those who know us best.
Heavenly Father, help me to have a teachable spirit.
