“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels. Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes reproach. The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.” Proverbs 18:1-4
When we come to know Christ, there is a joy that can bubble out of us. It can make us smile at people we don’t know. It can make us a little more patient standing in line at the grocery. Knowing the Lord helps to put this life and its challenges into perspective. We are citizens of heaven and so what happens here becomes less stressful and less concerning.
The world, on the other hand, has a whole different perspective. If this life is all that a person has to hold onto, people can become selfish, angry, show contempt and act in very foolish ways.
Knowing the Lord keeps us grounded in what is truly important. This life is based on the fact that we are to know Christ and to make Him known.
Lord Jesus, help me to have a heavenly perspective. I want people to see Jesus in my life everywhere I go. Help me to do that.
