“My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.” Psalm 38:5-8
There was a time when there was no pain, no illness, no sin. The Garden of Eden was perfection. It was designed for man because God knew it was how we were to live. When sin entered the picture, perfection vanished and pain and suffering moved in. Disease, anguish, hurts both big and small became the order of the day.
We have never known life without them.
But here’s the good news:
We can know Christ because of them. He came to this earth, leaving perfection, to bear the weight of our sin on the cross. Every sin that has ever been committed was nailed to that tree. His blood didn’t just cover up the sin. His blood washed it away.
We won’t know life without sin in this world, but we can know freedom in Jesus from sin.
And that is very good news.
Thank You Lord, for the freedom that we can know in Christ.
