For the Whole World

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven, the Lord looks down and sees all mankind: from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.” Psalm 33:12-19

When we started this journey through the Psalms, we began with the very first verse of Psalm 1, “Blessed is the one…” And now here in Psalm 33, we read, “Blessed is the nation…”

There are individual blessings, those that God sends your way or mine. They can look like a health crisis averted or a healing for someone we love. Individual blessings can include financial, physical, emotional, or mental wins. But way above and beyond all of that is the blessing that we can, as individuals, each know God and live in a personal relationship with Him.

There are those blessings which benefit an entire nation, such as victories from war, and defeat of enemies. Catastrophic storms, that are predicted, can suddenly just turn away. Rain comes when it’s dry and warm sunshiny days grow our crops. All of that and so much more benefit our entire nation.

And then there are those blessings poured out on the whole world. Remember the rainbow that God placed in the sky as a promise? A flood will never again destroy the whole earth.

Right now, God is looking down from heaven and sees all mankind and everything is under His control.

A global blessing.

Jesus came to die for the world.

Huge enormous blessing!

His salvation is available for anyone who asks and that means heaven forever.

An eternal blessing.

Blessed is the one, blessed is the nation, blessed is the world; we get to walk in the blessing of God.

It’s all blessing.

Father, please help every single one of us to choose You as our Lord. We want our world to be blessed with knowing you.
