“‘He trusts in the Lord,’ they say, ‘let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.’” Psalm 22:8
And this is exactly what happened. Matthew records the chief priests, teachers of the law and elders mocking Him, “He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him...”
These religious leaders had listened to Jesus teach. They had seen the miracles. They had witnessed the dead being raised and yet they refused to believe.
They had seen but would not see. They had heard but would not hear.
The Messiah, the Savior of the world, was right before them offering salvation to them. Instead of trusting, they laughed. Instead of worshipping, they mocked. Instead of following, they rejected.
He was right in front of them and they missed Him.
He is right in front of us. Please don’t miss Him.
Lord, give us eyes to see and ears to hear.
