Enough

Most of you who are reading this know that we are a team of four sisters. But what you may not know is that we also have two brothers. They are strong, committed followers of the Lord. When we six kids were growing up we had the usual pets. We had lots of dogs through the years and our parents even got talked into a kitten. But one of our brothers decided to branch out into the exotic. He went to our backyard creek and gathered up leeches and brought them into his room. He set up some type of water housing for them but as far as I was concerned at that point his room became totally off limits. I wouldn’t darken the door to even take in his clothes or get his trash. Leeches were just too scary. It might have been because numerous times wading in our creek I was terrorized by the creatures finding their way onto my skin and drinking my blood. Or it could have been the Saturday afternoon scary movie, “The Attack of the Giant Leeches.” At any rate, I wanted no part of them. And the Bible agrees. They are listed here with things that are never satisfied.

“The leech has two daughters. ‘Give! Give!’ they cry. There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, ‘Enough!’: the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, which never says, ‘Enough!’ The eye that mocks a father,

that scorns an aged mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.” Proverbs 30:15-17

Lord, there are some things that are never satisfied. Help me to find satisfaction in You. Help me to always trust You.
