It doesn’t happen much in our neck of the woods. I can only remember a couple of times that the house has unexpectedly begun to shake or a sound like something falling has occurred. I’ve learned later that it was a minor earthquake. They just are not that common here. We live on a fault line, but in my lifetime, it’s been pretty well behaved. However, there is no assurance that it will continue to behave and actually there is always the possibility that the big one will hit.
More often we face storms. The sirens were blaring last night announcing thunderstorms and discovered this morning that tornadoes had hit our state.
But it isn’t just the storms and quakes that can rock our worlds. More often it’s family, work, health that causes everything to go spinning out of control. God’s Word gives us the answer. Run to Him. He is the safe place.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46:1-3
Lord, thank You that no matter what the situation is, I can find shelter in Your arms. You are always big enough to take care of me.
