“Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live.” Psalm 119:141-144
The passage for today is double sided. It’s both challenging and yet hopeful. The writer uses words about his life that are hard. Lowly, despised, trouble, distress are terms that he used to explain what was happening to him. These are tough.
Maybe we’ve experienced some of these same things. We’ve felt lowly and despised. We’ve walked through trouble and distress.
How did he handle it?
He trusted God and His Word. Even in the hard times, he found delight in God’s commands.
How can we handle it?
We can trust God and His Word. Even in the hard times, we can find delight in God’s commands.
Lord Jesus, in the good times and in the tough times, help me to delight in Your Word.
