Almost since its birth, Israel has had enemies. Why?
The simple answer is that what God loves, the ultimate enemy hates and he will do everything he can to destroy what God loves. He wants Israel’s name remembered no more.
“O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. ‘Come,’ they say, ‘let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.’” Psalm 83:1-4
But this lets us in on some of the challenges we face. You see, Jesus loves us. He loves us so much that He gave His life on the cross for us. He took our place, receiving the punishment for our sins, so that we could have eternal life with Him. It is the most incredible gift we could ever be offered.
He loves us.
So, the enemy hates us and will do everything he can to try to ruin us. All kinds of things are put in our path to mess us up. The goal is to wipe us out with every trace of influence we have to build God’s Kingdom.
So, we have a choice. Will we follow Christ and make an eternal difference or succumb to the enemy’s plan so our name is remembered no more?
The choice is up to us.
Father, I commit my life to You. Please use me to make an eternal difference.
