The question has been asked repeatedly if abortion is a greater sin than lying or stealing or speaking in an abusive manner. The answer goes back to what abortion actually is. So, let’s define it.
Abortion is the name given for killing an unborn baby. In its attempt to soften the pain of doing this, the baby is termed a fetus and not looked on in human terms. It is meant to make the killing more palatable, but the truth is that we know the truth. Abortion is killing an unborn baby.
The baby lives within the mother but is not the mother. It can be a different sex, blood type and has a distinct DNA. This baby is unique and no child has even been created before or since exactly like this one.
Choosing to abort a baby puts the doctors and parents in the place of God, deciding who lives and who dies. In our world it is called good. It is decidedly evil.
God takes credit for our creation and doesn’t want us to think we have the right to interrupt it.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you.” Psalm 139:13-18
No matter what we look like, our intellect, talent, parentage, heritage, abilities, or struggles, God’s Word proclaims that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
No man or woman has the right to stand above God and decide otherwise.
Lord, I pray that miraculously You would open all of our eyes to see the value of every child. Please bring abortion to an end.
