Am I able to say along with this psalmist that I love God’s law?
But can I say that I meditate on it all day long?
I have to say that I wish I could be that faithful. I would love to be able to make this my claim. But in full disclosure, I cannot. I read the Word every day and pray but meditate all day long?
Not there yet...too many distractions. Too many other “important” items on my plate.
So, for me, this has to be a goal, because it is not yet a reality.
“Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.” Psalm 119:97-100
As we read these words, of course we would want this:
Wiser than my enemies
More insight than my teachers
More understanding than the elders
All of those are the benefits of knowing and meditating on God’s Word.
So, what is holding me back?
Hmmm, you know, all of the important things in my life like TV, movies, games, shopping...yes, all of those important things.
Something to pray about.
Lord, please help me to add more of You and Your Word into my day.
