“Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me;” Psalm 23:4
I know my house and even in the dark I can pretty much find my way around. But trying to find an unknown location in the dark even with GPS is sometimes challenging. Walking outside on a moonless night can make it hard to even know where to safely take the next step.
Because dark is, well, dark.
The valley that’s being referred to here is often translated as the valley of the shadow of death. It’s a dark scary place.
But in this verse, we see a promise. God is there even in the darkness. This is Yahweh Shama, The Lord is Present.
Over and over again in Scripture we see the promise that God will never leave us. He will never forsake. People may walk away leaving us feeling afraid and alone, but God never will.
No matter where we are, no matter what we are going through, no matter how alone and afraid we may start to feel, God is there. His presence is with us. Always!
You are present with me. You walk beside me to hold me even when it is dark. I can always depend on You for a light to my path because You are the Light of the World. Thank You.
