“Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.” Psalm 25:12-14
What is the covenant of God?
A covenant was a promise, only bigger. It entailed a contract of sorts, an agreement. God made covenants with Noah, Abraham, the children of Israel. Covenants were made among nations and between individuals. The word is used hundreds of times in the Old Testament.
But a new covenant was coming. Jesus said at the last supper that His blood would be poured out and He was establishing a new covenant. Jesus fulfilled every last detail of what that covenant would look like. It offers salvation to every man, woman and child. Our part of the agreement is to receive Christ. When we do, we get everything…abundant life, knowing the Lord, the promise of heaven, being joint heirs with Him, the seal of the Holy Spirt in our lives to guide us, sweet peace, knowing we are in His hands, and so much more.
And who wouldn’t want that?
Lord, thank You that I get to experience abundant life. Thank You that I can know You and have the promise of heaven and so much more.
