When is the last time you took the time to count your blessings? I know it’s an old song, but it’s an everyday concept that David is talking about in today’s verses:
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.” Psalm 40:4-5
But I want you to see that he says there are so many wonders that he has seen God do in his life that there are simply too many to declare.
Could we say that? Are we so familiar with what we see God doing that we would not be able to name them all because we would run out of time or space or would we be scratching our heads a little, as we began to compile the list?
Take a few moments and list ten wonders that He has played out in your life. Throughout the day today, add to that list. I think what you’ll find is that the day looks different.
Lord, I want to take these moments to thank You for all that I see, hear, taste, smell, touch that has come from Your hand. There really are too many blessings to count.
