“Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.” Proverbs 2:20-22
Here it is, plain and simple: The wicked will be cut off.
Do we want that?
Do we want to be cut off from the Lord’s presence?
Do we want to miss the fellowship of other believers?
Do we want to miss the promised land?
What is more important than a relationship with the Lord?
There are people around the world who will give anything to achieve what is considered success. Much of the time it means giving up convictions, integrity, embracing compromise, and eventually outright immorality and wickedness. It means leaving righteousness in pursuit of stuff. But when eternity beckons the stuff will be left behind and all that is left is the declaration that the wicked will be cut off...cut off. Do we want that?
We pray, Lord Jesus, that You would help us understand how to follow You with our whole heart and leave wickedness behind. It is not ever worth it to go after anything but You and Your plan for us.
