In our last post, we shared that often people try to look within themselves for answers. Instead of looking to the Creator for guidance, many have decided to follow what is right in their own eyes. The Lord addressed this very thing. “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8
If we take an honest assessment we have to come to some conclusions.
We are limited in our understanding.
We are finite in our scope of reasoning.
We cannot have a full grasp of life, because we are a mere breath away from death.
And yet, people believe they have it all together. What they deem as correct, they hold onto. What they believe to be truth should therefore be truth. People embrace their own wisdom.
But here is the real truth: God is and always has been in charge. He sits above the earth, and sees all. His ways are higher than ours. His Word should be what we follow.
We are to fear Him because He is awesome and worthy of our honor and praise.
And then, these verses give us a medical prescription for our lives.
As we fear the Lord and shun evil, it will bring health to our bodies and nourishment to our bones.
Sounds good to me.
Lord Jesus, You are awesome. I want to reverence You every day, every moment. Help me to live in holy fear and admonition of You.
