Often, we look at the lives of the rich and famous, those who seem to be the great intellectuals of the world, the stars, the athletes, the makers of films and the singers of songs, and we wonder. There are some whose lives do not appear to exemplify the Lord. Many times, what we see is that they make choices that directly clash with Biblical truth and they do it publically and unashamedly. Some have even said that there is no God, or that, even if there is a God, He does not care what we do.
All of this can cause us to question. But we are not alone in our wonder at this. The psalmist said, “The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth. Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. How long, Lord, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant? They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. They crush your people, Lord; they oppress your inheritance. They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless. They say, ‘The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.’” Psalm 94:1-7
It is interesting that centuries ago the author of this psalm recognized that people make choices that leave God out. They decide that God does not see what they do, so they can do what they want.
But can they?
Lord make us mindful of Your Word. Help us to follow it. The world may go in a direction that takes them away from You. Help us to stay on the path that leads to You.
