“Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” Psalm 29:1-2
As this psalm begins it sounds very much like a command. This is what we must do. It is what is required of us. All of heaven and earth are to give God the glory, honor and praise that He deserves.
We try. But in reality, this side of heaven, we cannot accomplish this. It is beyond us to be able to give Him the true respect and love that belong to Him alone. He is beyond any words or description that we may try to articulate. He is greater than our capacity to love. He is kinder than we can understand and His beauty and majesty cannot be confined to terms that we know.
He is more than we can think or imagine.
But we try. We take what we know and feel and tell Him. And even though it is limited, He receives it and whispers back, “I love you.”
Lord, how we thank You that you are bigger than any words we have or any ability to express them. You are so great. We love You.
