“My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.” Psalm 108:1-4
David begins this psalm with praise. It’s a good way to begin anything. Looking at this, it seems like he must be an early riser. He uses the phrase that he will awaken the dawn. I know that some people do not consider themselves morning people and that’s completely okay. But I understand David’s joy at being awake before the sun begins to peek above the horizon. Morning people love the quiet and serenity of early morning. Yet night people enjoy the evening and are energized as the sun begins to retire. I think it’s wonderful that God made both. That means that praise for our Lord can happen at all times and that is as it should be. He is our loving Heavenly Father whose love and faithfulness reaches to the skies. He is so worthy of praise day or night.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for Your great love.
