“‘Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.’ But to the wicked person, God says: ‘What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.’” Psalm 50:14-21
Make no mistake, the accounts will be settled. God is a just God and He will make everything right.
We sometimes think that people get away with the wrong they’ve brought to others. But there is no such thing. There are always two who know what’s been done.
The guilty person knows and God knows.
You can’t escape your wrong and you can’t escape that the Lord knows your wrong.
He will hold us accountable.
However, God does have a plan for our redemption and that is to receive the grace that comes with recognizing our sin, owning that we are sinners, and then repenting of our sins. When we do that, the blood of Jesus washes us clean. It means He takes it and deals with it.
If we don’t receive His forgiveness, we will pay the penalty ourselves. There simply is not the possibility of “getting away with it.”
Lord, I praise You that You will settle all of the accounts. It is either at the cross for forgiveness or at Your throne in judgement. You are just and fair.
