“God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.” Psalm 53:2
When God looks down from heaven what does He see?
In the world today there are basically three categories regarding God’s Kingdom. There are those who believe. There are those who are seeking to know and there are those who don’t believe.
Where do we fit? When God looks down at us what does He see? Are we ones who are seeking to know truth? God longs for people to seek Him. And when we seek Him with our whole hearts, we will find Him waiting.
Maybe we are already fully convinced of who He is and are enjoying a loving relationship with Him. Perhaps we can testify to His amazing grace and the peace we know because we know Him.
But if we don’t fall into one of those two groups then there is, in reality, only one left and maybe God sees us as the next few verses of this Psalm describe: “Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on God.” Psalm 53:3-4
What a sad description. Corruption, not even one doing good, evildoers, these words don’t paint a pretty picture for the one who has turned away from God. Perhaps the saddest words that can be said about anyone are that they never called on God.
He is a breath away. He answers when we whisper, even if only He can hear it. Why waste another moment apart from Him?
Lord, thank You that today can always be the day of salvation for any who choose to trust and believe in You.
