“Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together. They say, ‘God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him.’ Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me. May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.” Psalm 71:9-13

I’m not sure how old the psalmist is at this writing but it seems that the world has written him off. Have you ever felt that way?

Too old...

Too young...

Not experienced...

Too much experience...

Not good up front...

Not good behind the scenes...

Let’s face it, we have all lived being the wrong something or other at some point in our lives. We have experienced rejection, defeat, discouragement.

But the answer is found in this psalm. Take it to the Lord. Pray about it. Give Him the whole situation and let Him deal with it. When we give Him the “I can’ts...”, He says, “I can.” When we give Him the “I’m not enough...”, He says, “I Am!”

Lord, I give You everything I am and everything I’m not and ask You to use me wherever You choose.
