A Reminder Each Day

“In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” Psalm 19:4-6

There are places where we sometimes set our feet and the ground under us shifts. Jobs are downsized, marriages fall apart, kids move halfway around the world, friends and loved ones pass away. The ground shifts because the world is really shaky ground.

But there are places where the ground won’t shift, like our faith in God, and His Word. Another is the assurance that the sun will rise today. It will rise tomorrow, and it will rise for every single one of our tomorrows. Every day since God created the sun, moon, and stars, the sun has shouted out the message that the light is coming. Even after the darkest night, the sun is going to rise. Light will return; we need only look up.

And so often it rises in beautiful technicolor. Suddenly the sky is illuminated with a vibrancy and beauty that never gets old. The message is clear for us every day of our lives. Light overcomes the darkness.

The Light of the World has overcome the darkness. On that we can firmly plant our feet.

Father, thank You for the sun. It reminds me every day that You are the Light of the World and I can walk in Your light and warmth.
