“I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. They spread a net for my feet—I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path—but they have fallen into it themselves. My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” Psalm 57:4-8
I love it that David responded to some of the most difficult circumstances of his life with music. He was being pursued and he sang!
What does that say to us?
No matter what, have a song ready. It can be one of joy, praise, prayer, fear, terror, gratitude, thanksgiving, request. The list is endless that could be included in our songs. The Lord tells us to sing a new song. There is one for every occasion. We just have to sing it.
Lord Jesus, there is never an occasion when a song is not possible. You love it when I sing about everything in my life.
