A Nanosecond

How long is a second? If we’re counting, it’s something like saying, “One thousand one”. It’s a fleeting moment.

How long is a nanosecond? If we’re trying to figure that one by saying it, well, we just missed it. It is one billionth of a second. It is an almost uncalculatable amount of time especially when we view it in the span of our lifetime.

But what about our lives in the span of eternity? Perhaps we’ll live to be 100+. What is said about a centenarian is that they lived a long life.

But have we, if we don’t know Christ?

Asaph knew where to put his hope. “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Psalm 73:25-28

This life, in comparison to eternity, is merely a tiny breath. It will be almost uncalculatable as we live our forever lives either with Jesus or without Him. Is there anything this earth offers that should cause us to reject Christ and live away from Him? In reality, this life is merely a nanosecond and both heaven and hell are very real places…for eternity!

Lord, You are my refuge. Help me to tell of Your deeds so others may know You too.
