Have you ever met someone who just talks and talks? That person might not have a good filter so you hear way more than you want to hear.
If we are wise, we do have a filter. We can ask God to put a guard over our mouths so we don’t say more than we should.
But a person who speaks foolishly just blurts. They say whatever pops into their heads and that isn’t good. This proverb gives us great advice. “The prudent keep their knowledge to themselves, but a fool’s heart blurts out folly.” Proverbs 12:23
Just because we think something, doesn’t mean we need to speak it. Just because we’ve heard something, doesn’t mean it needs to be shared. If we are wise and we have information about someone, we need to use it as a springboard to pray, not to let everyone else know it.
Pray more. Speak less.
Heavenly Father, help me indeed to pray more and speak less.
