I was reading from the book of Daniel this morning. The last six chapters of his book deal with the future. It was a time he was looking toward, but it is a time we are actually living.
I can say without hesitation that we are living in the end times. How long will these days continue? I can’t answer that. Jesus could return before this blog is posted. Jesus could wait to come for a hundred years. I know this: it is closer today than any other day.
So, I am looking up.
But I am also looking in...into God’s Word. It is where the psalmist was looking. He was facing difficulties and needed help. Where did he go?
I heard a phrase this morning describing the condition of our country in certain places. The term was “cultural rot.” I only had to hear it once. It stopped me in my tracks. Cultural rot...what a devastating diagnosis, but I have to agree. It is accurate.
So, what do we do?
The same thing we read today. We call out to God in prayer for our families, churches, cities, states, nation, the world. We look to God’s Word for comfort and direction.
Our hope is in Him.
“I call with all my heart; answer me, Lord, and I will obey your decrees. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:145-147
Lord, I bow before You today. I am so grateful that I am one of Your sheep. I don’t have to make the call of the Shepherd. I just have to follow Your lead and trust You through everything.
